Podcasts are an often overlooked promotional tool that are gaining new fans within the business community. As Checkerboard recently confirmed when we created our own podcast series after a long hiatus from using them, podcasts are still an effective way to reach your on-the-go target market.
While we’d love it if everyone would read all of our web content, not everyone takes the time. Businesses are revisiting podcasts because they fit today’s on-the-go lifestyles. Even better: Podcasts are growing in popularity. As of 2016, 21% of Americans ages 12 and older said they’d listened to a podcast within the last month, compared to just 12% in 2013. In all, about one-third of Americans say they’ve listened to a podcast. That’s a huge number of buyers waiting to hear useful information about your product or company.
When podcasts debuted a few years ago, Checkerboard was among the first to embrace the new platform. Today, as podcasts’ popularity is surging, we’ve started incorporating podcasts more often into our promotions. For example, we turn our blog posts and marketing videos into podcasts, then upload them to iTunes, Stitcher and Google Play. Podcasts can work for us, and we think it may work for you too.
