As you enter the Twitter world, it’s difficult to know and understand the rules right off the bat. What are you supposed to tweet about? How often? And what time?! Obviously we all want our tweets to reach as many people as possible and get the most visibility—so what should you know about timing your tweets? Yesterday, I sat in on a webinar called The Science of Timing, and got some good tips on how to make the most of your tweets:
- Your retweets should follow the opposite of a nocturnal schedule: they should be awake during the day and sleeping during the night.
- Retweets occur the most between 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Saturday and Sundays are among the highest-traffic days for Twitter click-through rates, so don’t be afraid to tweet on the weekends.
- When tweeting, remember that most people live in the Eastern time zone—so you may have to adjust your tweet schedule around this to create the most visibility.
