A:  SPAM is a nuisance to say the least – it is estimated that there have been over 7 trillion SPAM messages!  Checkerboard suggests installing a WordPress plug-in called Simple Comments – some benefits are below:

1. Spambots are blocked before they fill up your spam folder
2. Hackbots are blocked before they hack into your WordPress blog, and before they can register fake accounts
3. No more worrying about spambots or hackbots
4. The only plug-in that never blocks real comments – only spam
5. Offers protection for various forms as well (see link for details)

One of our clients had experienced a large influx of spam in a short time – once we installed Simple Comments, the barrage stopped and they have not had this problem again!
