Back in October, I put together a tutorial video answering a client’s question about how to add tabs to their business’ Facebook profile. In the video, I talked about how Static FBML is Facebook’s most-used tool for creating tabs. I also mentioned that Facebook will be dropping FBML at the end of the year. Well … it’s almost the end of the year.
So what’s next? First of all, don’t worry about any of your existing tabs that were built using FMBL: Facebook will continue to support them. To replace FBML, though, Facebook has developed iframes, which actually let you pull a part of your WordPress site into a Facebook tab. The tab then acts like a window to your website. This means that our clients can easier control their Facebook tabs, because with iframes they can do it right from their WordPress site.
Facebook provides a Developer’s Roadmap that can help you further plan for any upcoming changes. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this change.
