Effective Planning
Where are you currently with your Web site?
Where are you trying to go?
How are we going to get you there?
We set ourselves apart from other Web design firms by investing a great deal of time and effort at the beginning of each project for analysis and planning. Here is a brief description of what that involves.
Where are you currently with your Web site?
Our analysis includes:
- Code (programming). How well coded is your site? How compatible are your goals with the way your site is programmed? Are there potential gaps or problem areas that should be fixed?
- Site effectiveness and conversion rate. What can your statistics tell us about how well your site is currently working for you? How many people are coming to your site? How many of those are contacting you or purchasing from you?
- Key word analysis. Are your key words incorporated properly for search engines to find? Are they relevant to your site? Are your primary key words too general? Can they be more specific so that you rank higher on the search results? We'll compile a list of key words that your potential customers are using to find companies such as yours, and incorporate them within your site's content, code and page names.
- Tracking ability. What statistics are currently available through your host? Are there any areas for improvement?
- Content. What needs to be developed? (Do you have any pages that say "Coming soon"?) Is the existing material enticing? Is it tailored to your visitors? Who will be responsible for each element?
- Design/navigation/layout. Can the layout be improved? Is it easy to navigate? Is the design in keeping with your image?
Where are you trying to go?
- Goals/demographics/target market. How does your site fit with your business plan? We'll ask you a number of leading questions designed to help you determine how your site should work for you. Then we will help you translate those goals into an action plan.
- Media Readiness. Do you want the media to visit your site? If so, what will they find? Is there a section with press releases and contact information? Is your product messaging consistent with your advertising and PR materials?
How are we going to get you there?
Based on our analysis and discussions with you, we will create a Design Document to guide our team through the development process. This document will outline exactly what you will see in the finished product.
- Basic layout, flowchart, navigation and visitor routes. We will create a site map, which is an overall picture of the completed Web page. It will include all of the sections and Web pages we will be developing.
- Map timeline and assignments. Task lists will be created for our development team, writers and the client to ensure a smooth timely process.
- Marketing plan. We make realistic suggestions and recommendations for current and phased improvements to support your marketing goals. These may include such steps as reciprocal links, additional key word advertising, updating collateral pieces to match your new Web site, and enhancements to your advertising and public relations campaigns.
